Episode 29 - FREE THERAPY - Will Smith learnt violence from his childhood. What did you learn?
You can access this episode on Apple Podcast here and Spotify here
In this episode, we look at the recent drama of Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars in defense of his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, when Chris Rock disrespected her with a joke about her hair-less condition, alopecia.
⠀
Louise starts the episode by sharing that she felt like the missing piece of the jigsaw was when she read a section of Will Smith’s autobiography where he explained that he grew up in an abusive environment, watching his Father beat his Mother and that this developed his ‘biggest regret to date’ that he was a ‘coward’ and never ‘avenged his Mother’.
⠀
Today, we discuss the stories, limiting beliefs and conditioning that we pick up in childhood, subconsciously and consciously, and how these shape how we show up in the world, and how they hold us back from living our best life.
⠀
Louise & Dr Tari talk about:
⠀
⇢ How we often learn we are not enough, that we have to fight for love, earn it, or that we are going to be abandoned;
⠀
⇢ Family dynamics, sibling relationships and what you can learn if you are, or are not, the golden child of the family;
⠀
⇢ How stories can be picked up around hobbies and food; and
⠀
⇢ How picking up your attachment style from your caregivers will impact all of your relationships later in life.
⠀
Louise also goes deep and shares her personal experience of:
⠀
⇢ Her experience with high level ballet and gymnastics as a child;
⠀
⇢ How her relationship with food was defined from her relationship with her family; and
⠀
⇢ How her relationship with her family unit maybe developed becoming an introvert later in life.
