56 - THERAPIST HOTLINE - I’m in a happy relationship, so why am I thinking about someone else?

In today’s first ever OPENHOUSE Hotline episode, Louise reads clinical psychologist, Dr Tari, Mack and sex therapist Massimo Fontana a listener’s question that explains she is in a happy, long term relationship but has started to think about someone she has met at work …. A lot.

Louise asks the therapists their thoughts on what to do when you start to think about someone who is not your partner.

The group discuss:

  • Is this normal? Does this happen to everyone?

  • What to do when it happens;

  • Why this is often more about you, rather than the person outside of the relationship;

  • But what the other person can show you about yourself and your relationship;

  • Why stepping out of bounds isn't always the solution;

  • The shame and guilt that people experience when they do engage with the 'other person' thinking it might make them feel better;

As well as asking;

  • Is it normal to fantasize about someone who isn’t your partner? and

  • What tips and tricks that you can introduce into your relationship to re-connect both inside and outside of the bedroom.
